Ducks batted first and unveiled a new opening
pair. Sadly this was no more effective than usual and Ducks were soon in
trouble. A combination of tight fast bowling, particularly from Dave, and
excellent fielding positions had the
Ducks in all sorts of trouble and at one point looked like not even passing
their previous lowest score (46). A steady recovery from Steve and Saeed saw
the Ducks safely past the shame and to the relative comfort of 110.
In reply the Invitation XI also got off to a
shaky start but then a partnership of 42 between Pete and Tim threatened to
provide a big lead. Ducks bowlers recovered to restrict the Invitation XI to
118 and a first innings lead of 8. All to play for in the second innings !

must be a record.
The first no ball ever (Zak – an umpire who
knows the laws of cricket. Whatever next ?)
MOM ? For the Ducks probably Saeed for his all
round performance. For Gill’s XI probably Tim especially for his batting.
