Gill's XI batted first and trail by 6 after the first innings. The original lead was thought to be 9 but scorebook discrepancies brought about a bit of banter followed by an agreement to settle on 6. In the end the Ducks won comfortably by 2 wickets with more than 5 overs to spare. The series is now tied at 3 all but the Ducks have the chance to retain the trophy in perpetuity next year as a win in 2001 will be their third in succession.
