Once again Frenchy won the toss but this time to no avail. Gill's XI ( IX ? X ?) were put into bat and immediately Mark Oxy and Jeff Weir set about the bowling in a manner that did not let up throughout. A 41 opening stand was followed up by another stand of 46. Finally some superb hitting by the other Mark including three successive sixes, one of which lost the ball on the bin yard roof.

Another good opening partnership for the Ducks was not enough though; the overs were getting away and once both openers were removed the rest of the batting crumbled. A first inning deficit of 92 means the second innings will have to go some to remain a contest.
